Well the big news has finally arrived! Coach RED Wellness is now operating and managing Fit4OCR, the Obstacle Race Training Centre in Baldock, Hertfordshire.
The facility was founded, owned and managed by Gill Govier and her team for 5 years building it up to where it is today and uses qualified instructors to provide obstacle race technique training and facilities for a wide variety of events such as; children’s parties, stag and hen do’s, corporate days out, team building and charity events.
What does this mean for Fit4OCR? Well, not a huge amount initially, the same services will be provided but the business is now owned and managed by Coach RED Wellness. The website, email and booking systems etc will remain as they are currently until a decision is taken on the best way forward to amalgamate the two businesses. There will be some rebranding to associate the two, so expect to see those changes filtering through over time. You will notice that you can book Fit4OCR sessions through the Coach RED website.
Below is a summary of what you can expect to see throughout 2020 regarding existing and new services as a result of this change.
The well attended and loved After School and Children Activity Hour sessions will continue to run as they have done previously, continuing on the fun and excitement that children have enjoyed over previous years during school term time and the school holidays respectively.
The Saturday morning Arena Assault and Arena All Comers sessions will continue.
The venue will also continue to be available for private hire for:
- Children’s parties
- Stag and Hen Do’s
- Corporate Events
- Charity events
- and other events and parties
The staff that you have come to know and love over the years will remain working with us, so you can be sure that the high level of instruction and commitment you have seen to date, remains in place. I look forward to continuing to work with this valuable team of instructors moving forward and I would like to thank all staff past and present for their high levels of commitment and dedication to Fit4OCR.
New for 2020
The year will start with a series of sessions dedicated to Cold Water Acclimatisation, where you can expect to get wet and cold, so you will need to dress appropriately, bringing a towel and warm clothes for afterwards – the reason DryRobes were invented.
There will also be the introduction of Coach RED bootcamps and outdoor circuit sessions that will be open to people of all abilities. These will be designed to use the obstacles minimally and provide outdoor fitness sessions to Baldock and the surrounding areas. These may start in December, so keep your eyes peeled.
Sundays will see the introduction of the Arena Assault and Arena All Comers sessions to allow those that could not make Saturday work for them attend and have as much fun. When I first attended Fit4OCR several years ago, this was the day that I used to come and were very popular and may well prove to be the case again.
Coming in 2020
Fit4OCR already has a substantial number of obstacles to train on, but there is room for both expansion and improvement, so throughout the year you will see changes to the arena and what is available.
Being a qualified Personal Trainer, the intention is to provide my services in both a gym based environment on site in addition to training outdoors using the obstacles or otherwise. This will allow individuals to receive both standard personal training or obstacle related training as they would like.
As and when other ideas come to fruition, these will be posted appropriately and I look forward to sharing them with you.
I would like to thank Gill and Ian for being the driving force behind getting Fit4OCR to where it is today and also to everybody that has enjoyed Fit4OCR over the years. I look forward to the start of a new era for Fit4OCR under the management of Coach RED Wellness.
